Shirley Song is an Australian born Chinese composer who resides in the sunny city of Los Angeles.
Shirley is currently scoring the upcoming feature film “Slanted” directed by Amy Wang and with her writing partner (good friend/partner in crime), Jina Hyojin An working on Season 2 of the hit Netflix Series "XO, Kitty."
Her past credits with her frequent collaborator Jina are Netflix Animated Series, “Exploding Kittens”, based on the popular party card game, Amazon Prime’s upcoming film “Five Blind Dates”, the Netflix Romantic comedy, "A Tourist's Guide to Love (2023)” and the the upcoming Dreamworks Animation / Apple TV + Series Be@rBrick.
The duo also composed music for the 2021 Christmas Netflix film "Princess Switch 3: Romancing The Star," featuring Vanessa Hudgens. Shirley will also be the composer for the upcoming biopic on Australian pioneering aviator, Nancy Bird.
Shirley has also contributed additional music to an array of TV shows and films, including the HBO Max TV show, Julia, based on the life of renowned chef, Julia Childs, the Disney Junior show, "Mira, Royal Detective," second season of the CBS series, "Strange Angel," the Dreamworks/Netflix animations, "Tales Of Arcadia: 3Below,” “Wizards" and “Trollhunters: Rise Of The Titans” created by Guillermo Del Toro.
Shirley's concert music has been performed at venues across Sydney Australia, including the Sydney Opera House, Seymour Center...and has written music for Giorgio Armani and the Jane Goodall Institute.
A graduate of the University of Sydney/Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Bachelor of Music (Composition)(Hons.) and Berklee College of Music's Film Scoring diploma, Shirley has has also worked on TV shows and films such as “Alias Grace,” “The Breadwinner,” the 2019 "The Addams Family" animation and the 2020 Pixar film, "Onward.”
